ABOUT TYLER
Tyler Ervin started Valley Furnace Land Company to merge two things he cares about: scaling businesses and land. As an entrepreneur, he knows firsthand the challenge of balancing working in the business with working on it. From back office operations to land development, VFLC is built to help businesses accelerate.
Before VFLC, Tyler founded Predxion Media, an advertising agency that managed over $15 million in media investment. He also operates Valley Furnace Farms, a producer of St. Croix sheep.
BEHIND THE NAME
Valley Furnace Land Co was named after an iron furnace built in Barbour County, West Virginia, where Tyler's family is from.
Built in 1848, after iron ore was discovered there in 1835, the furnace ran on charcoal and produced about 9,000 pounds of iron a day, hauled fifty miles by mule team to the Monongahela River for shipment downriver.
It shut down less than a decade later once cheaper iron from Pennsylvania and Michigan took over the market, and the site was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2023.
